FIRST COMMUNION HELPERS
Thank you to all the parents who have put their name down already. We are still in need of some parents to donate some time on the day. This will help with the preparation of the food (09:00 – 10:30), serving of the food (10:30 – 11:30) and cleaning (11:00 – 12:00). If you are able to help on the day, please put your name down ASAP. Remember, the favour is repaid next year when your children are receiving the Sacrament of the Eucharist.

HOME LEARNING
As the children have completed their Mental Maths, there is a slight change to the Maths homework. The children have been given 4 activities to be completed by the end of the week. Each activity has been explained and there are no new concepts, so they should be able to complete each task with minimal supervision.

DESIGN HUB
The Year 3 Design Hub will be up and running next week. If you could save any suitable building materials from the recycling bin and drop them into the class, that would be great!

YEAR 3 ASSEMBLY
The year 3 assembly is scheduled for Friday Week 6. Hopefully, many of you will be able to make it on the day. I will let you all know if anything is needed from home.

LITERACY FOCUS
This week, our reading focus is ‘making connections’. Making connections is when readers make connections between:
1.    Text-to-self
2.    Text-to-text
3.    Text-to-world
When readers connect a text to something they know or have experienced, they can understand it better.

The students will begin to plan their own narratives this week.

NUMERACY FOCUS
This week, the students will be learning about ‘grids and maps’.

 HOME LEARNING WEEK 4
The following tasks should be completed each night:

1.     Reading (readers) - 10mins
2.    Maths Activities – 1 section per night
3. Times Tables: Revise (x8)
4. Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check
The following tasks are only required to be completed once:

1.    Physical activity (includes team or club sport, dancing etc) - 15mins
2.    Teach your parents something you were taught at school.
3.    Go for a walk down the beach.
When a task has been completed, your child is required to tick it off in the diary.

Enjoy the week,

Mr. Jones
